The bluegill is a popular game fish with many fishermen. This particular fish is known by a variety of different names such as bream, sunfish or brim. They are found throughout the continental United States in various lakes, streams and ponds.

Individuals who are interested in various fish varieties or are avid fishermen should know various factors surrounding the bluegill and some of these will be highlighted in the paragraphs below.

Bluegills prefer to stay within calm pools within their residential bodies of water. This provides a sheltered area for them and protection from predators. As for their eating habits, the bluegill enjoys meals consisting of crustaceans and bugs but will readily bite on various bait and lures thrown out by fisherman. They tend to stay close to the shore, which makes them readily accessible to individuals fishing from land. As for their approximate size, bluegills generally grow to a maximum weight of about 5 lbs.

Bluegills have one main characteristic which makes identification easier on individuals who catch them or view them in the water and that is the blue gill flap which is how the name bluegill came about. When trying to separate the male bluegills from the female bluegills, one may find that looking at their underside will help with this type of gender identification. Male bluegills have more of an orange underside whereas that area on a female bluegill is mostly yellowish in color.

Some individuals may be curious as to the best ways in which to catch bluegills. It is best to fish from the shoreline as they tend to collect around the calmer and more sheltered water areas. As for what to put on the line, a fisherman that is looking to reel in a bluegill should choose worms, crickets, artificial flies and jigs. The best type of water body to go fishing for bluegills is a pond area as this is an area where fish of this type flourish.

Bluegills are a type of fish that are quite easy to catch and tend to be easily caught along shorelines of ponds, streams and smaller lakes. This is a great type of catch for young individuals as well since they do not have to do too much in order to get a bluegill on the end of their fishing line.

There is a website that has great information on most species of freshwater fish. It has details that pertain to each species of fish such as habitat, spawning, eating habits, the best lures and baits and more, the website is called: Fishing Stringer, and can be found at this url:

When you visit Hamburg, Germany, one of the must see places in this city is the Hamburg Fish Market. This market is open every Sunday morning from 5 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. Customers come from all over the country to bargain with the vendors in the stalls selling a lot more than just fish. You can buy anything here from a needle to an anchor, but you never pay the asking price without haggling first. This traditional open-air market is the oldest of its kind in Hamburg, dating back to the early 1700.

Located at the foot of the Fish Auction Hall, this market has sights and sounds that you won’t hear anywhere else. Vendors scream out the prices of their wares and there is music that will have you tapping your toes. Enjoy a delicious breakfast inside the Auction Hall as you listen to a wide variety of musical selections. The style of selling is quite different from what you are used to seeing in such markets.

When you visit Hamburg, the public transportation will take you to the port and to the location of the market. The area is quite crowded but the atmosphere is very pleasant. As you leave the market, take time to explore Hamburg Port, which is one of the most important ports in the country. Here goods are unloaded from all over the world destined for markets in Germany and in other countries of Northern Europe. You can take a tour of the harbour and sail past these large container ships that sail the Seven Seas.

From the port make your way to Hamburg Stadium and the Volkspark located right behind the stadium. This is certainly worth the visit as it gives you a glimpse of a 5-star arena that has been the setting for many international matches in various sports.

Other must sees when you visit Hamburg include a visit to the Museum of Hamburg History. The displays and exhibits will bring the history of the city to life before your eyes as you learn of the escapades of the feared pirate Stortebeker to the story of the Beatles visit to the city and the crowds that went to hear and see them at the Star Club. Some of the exhibits in this museum are quite large and all have English sub-titles so that you can understand the story if you don’t speak the German language.

Cruise the Alster Lake, a trip that takes only two hours, but includes nine stops. You can hop off at one location and explore the attractions or dine at one of the restaurant and then get back on the boat when it returns to this spot. Have a humbling experience by taking in the three organ concert that takes place every day at noon in St. Michael’s Church. From the tower of this church you also have a magnificent view of the city one that will remain in your memory forever.

Hamburg is also the home of the largest shopping centre in Europe the Europa Passage which houses over 100 stores on five floors. You will certainly find what you are looking for in this location if you didn’t already do so at the Sunday Fish Market.

I wanted to talk a little bit about fish that might look tempting in the store, but should probably be avoided by beginning aquarists. All of these fish have their good points too, or the fish stores wouldn’t be stocking them at all, but it’s best to have a little more experience before adding these, or setting up a new tank for them.

If I start with goldfish, you’re going to say “What? Goldfish are difficult? Since when?” Well, they certainly can be if you try to put them in a tropical tank with other fish. First of all, goldfish like colder water than other tropical freshwater fish, and trying to compromise on a temperature will make both sets of fish unhappy. Secondly, goldfish are DIRTY – they add too much ammonia and other wastes to the water for a delicate biological filtration setup to handle, and will require you to do a LOT more tank scrutiny and maintenance if you don’t want a catastrophe on your hands. In short, get them their own tank and you’re good to go.

Mollies are sweethearts, and very social, but they tend to do well in water that’s a little more brackish (that is, salty) than what other tropical fish like. Like the goldfish, they’ll be happier in a tank that’s set up specifically for their needs. Setting up a brackish water tank is a really interesting process for the dedicated hobbyist, but again, not the best first stop for the beginner.

A discus is a beautiful fish, but they can be very expensive, which means that any newbie’s errors you make in water care, maintenance, or overcrowding are going to be very expensive for you too. I’d recommend the inexpensive angelfish instead, which are similar in shape and a little hardier.

Birchirs are fun, but you need to remember that they will eat any smaller fish they can catch up with. Unfortunately, a birchir can grow quite rapidly, and fish that weren’t “smaller” when you introduced him may soon find themselves in danger. These guys are also famous for jumping out of the tank.

The plecostomus is an amiable and hardy bottom feeder, but they also grow quickly, and most will outgrow the standard 40- or 55-gallon tank long before you’re ready to start a larger one. Similarly, Bala Sharks and Hatchet Fish can grow to up to 10-12 inches long before you know it. With any fish it’s important to learn the maximum size they’ll grow to, and the speed of growth, before you lay down your cash.

Like with everything else about aquariums, the key to choosing the right fish is to do all the research you can before adding anything new.

There were three of them huddled up on the bench, at the bus stop. They were huddled up real tight to shield each other from the cold as they waited for the bus 117 to take them home.

Of the three, were two boys, Andrew and Mark who sat at the edges of the cold bench with their secret crush – Ashley. They all lived close by, but they never saw Ashley, not by the river, fishing, not in the park, playing. So now, they sat with quiet grins on their face, content enough just being this close to her, but Ashley preferred to be alone, she didn’t want their company. She just liked the music.

The boys would peak every few seconds or so (she’d think they were staring at where her dress met her breasts), and they would innocently ask “Are you cold?” and she would shake her head a little (even though she was) her mouth not moving, her eyes not leaving the trail of the trees. She knew if she said yes, their hands would be free to roam her body. She felt their stare, though it might have been just her mind at play, but it wasn’t, no, they were soon gonna be bored and restless, and their fingers will jab into her weak flash, under her dress, pushing, twisting grabbing, just like Billy had.

She’d look at them from a distance, and watch. Like those trees on the other side of the road that waved at her, with their branches contorted into a warm embrace.

The wind blows awfully mellow today, Ashley thought.

The wind blows awfully mellow, the piper plays his song.

I can hear his music, she thought. And there was music, surely there had to be, as she sat like that, there, but Ashley knew the music played just for her. The music would make everything OK. But not for the naughty boys.

She felt safe. They couldn’t harm her, not now – it was all over.

The piper played his song. The clock had chimed the thirteenth time. The piper played…

And Ashley looked to her right and gasped – for it was only the most natural of reactions to gasp for a lady to have seen a knife inside a boy’s heart.

She hadn’t realised she had the strength to jam it in that deep, nor too make a hole that wide. Blood squirted out like a fountain, and it reminded her of Billy Hodge’s blood.

Nicely done, she thought she heard her mother say, as she stood above a lifeless corpse, in a small lake of Billy Hodge’s warm, frothing crimson.

She turned to face the other boy, Surely he was gone by now, she thought. But he wasn’t, he was just looking at her, his jaw dislocated in what must have been fear (at least that’s what it looked like, that’s just how far he had opened it).

“Boo!” Ashley said, and Mark looked at her bewildered.
“Real funny Ashley,” Mark said quietly, before she her gaze departed for the horizon. But Mark was worried for her.

He worried, for too often she’d leave like that, with no notice or a goodbye, she’d leave for somewhere far away, to a place that churned black purple thoughts. Horrible thoughts, filled with blood and death and broken bones, and Mark would wonder why she was like this, and even more, how he could help her.

Some part of him would tell him: Leave the girl be, she’s too much trouble. But he couldn’t, not since that November day when his eyes locked with hers, and he drowned in their strange and beautiful depths.
As he thought of what to do, there was a sound of wheels cluttering on the pebbles. 117 was here.

“Do you think I can come over?” Mark asked and was awarded with a nod. It took a second to sink in – he had been building up to ask her this question for a long time, and each time he play pretended with the mirror his palms would sweat like crazy and his heart’d beat so hard he thought it would break out of him and run off somewhere, and now the answer came almost too quickly to be real. But it was real and he was happy nonetheless.

And so, Mark, Ashley and Anthony got up and walked into the bus that would take them all home.

no, not really. it’s not that good at all. the first line honestly just put me off. "There were three of them huddled up on the bench, at the bus stop." the first line should intrigue the reader. You need to use more of your imagination and more adjectives/descriptive words. Try to expand your vocabulary, this way you can choose more words that could describe your scene. Try to show instead of tell, this will help you with your writing, especailly since it’s meant to be a horror story. I’m sorry, but it’s not scary at all.

You just need practice and read more horror books. If you read them, you will be able to pick out the bits that make the story scary so you can use that technique in your own.

1. Characidae

The Characidae is a member of the Ostariphysi species. This fish has small adipose or connective tissues, known as fins. Their jaws have teeth. Their weberian small bony structure (Ossicles), link to the bladder area and also the inner part of the fish’s ear. The Characidae originate from Central and South America, but some may also be found in other smaller parts of the world, like Central Africa. There are two types of these fish which you can purchase, i.e. the carnivorous or the omnivorous ones. Carnivores feast on meat whilst omnivores prefer vegtables and/or animals. Characidae fish are predominantly herbivores so it is best to avoid this variety, as your aquarium will be virtually destroyed once this fish has nibbled its’ way through your tank.

By choosing the Characidae, you should avoid having other, smaller fish in the tank like the Angelfish, Fighters and others, as the Characidae like to gnaw at smaller object with their teeth. This includes eating other fish. Piranhas are from freshwater and also South America, and they are very similar to the Characidae species, in that they have sharp teeth. The piranhas’ strong jaws makes them dangerous, very much like the Characidae, and are categorised as a predatory species. In large groups, they like to attack their prey. The Characidae attack in groups as well as on their own - they have jaws and teeth which make easy work at ripping apart a terrestial species in such a short time. As a beginner at keeping an aquarium, avoid buying this species and the piranhas.

Feeding the Characidae

They mostly enjoy meats so feed them worms, etc.

What Type of Water is Best for Them

Soft swampy waters are ideal for the Characidae, as they can breed easier, by laying their eggs on the bottom of the tank as they will stick there. You should be aware that Characidae feed on their own. Eggs in the tank will be devoured once they emerge as youngsters, so don’t be surprised at this action. You will need to learn how to breed the Characidae before you buy any, as the skills are better learnt beforehand.

2. Serrasalmus Rhombeus

These fish are more commonly known as the Spotted and the White Piranha. They come from the Amazon Basins and also in South America. Piranhas will reach their full size of about ten inches. Aquarium fish will only grow to about six inches. When you are just starting an aquarium, piranhas are not the ideal species that you should begin with in fish care. These fish should be separated from the habitat of passive fish. Piranhas are olive green or silvery in colour and have deep pressed bodies. Their strong teeth are used to devour and tear apart other creatures, and they will have a good go at the tank as well. The fish look like bulldogs in resemblance, with a lower jaw that is quite threatening on approach. Piranhas are, by nature, aggressive and their food consists of other large or small fish.

Netting

When using a net to catch the fish, you need to take extreme precaution as they will try to gnaw at your hand which they see as prey. It is necessary to use a net if you need to clean out the aquarium.

Piranhas like to feed on other fishes as well as lean meat. As they are carnivorous, these fish are mainly for show and not as a pet. On the upside piranhas do not special water conditions and in aquariums they do not breed. Having two piranhas in one aquarium is not a good idea, as one will feed on the other. Species of the piranha include the Natterer Piranha and the Red-Breasted Piranha. These types of piranha are similar to the Serrasalmus Rhombeus in the way that they feast.

“How soon can I start my kids on omega 3 fish oils?”

I’m asked this question all the time. People read about the wonderful benefits for children of the omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oil, but there never seems to be any guidelines on when to start.

A lot of people are surprised to learn that I start supplementing my children’s diet with high quality, pure fish oil as soon as they turn six months old. The kids were all nursed up until that point and my wife was supplementing her diet with fish oil while pregnant and nursing.

This is so important because the omega 3 fatty acids, especially DHA, will make a HUGE difference in a child’s brain development, motor skills, language skills, thinking skills, vision, ability to sleep at night and much more.

So how do you give fish oil to a 6 month old? Here’s how we did it. We pierced the capsule, squeezed a small amount onto a baby spoon and popped it into their mouths.

It’s fun to watch a baby adjust to the taste of fish oils and it actually doesn’t take them long. With a little encouragement and lots of smiles, they’ll be reaching for the capsules faster than you can give it to them.

A little word of caution: don’t wear nice clothes in the beginning. One of our children loved to make raspberries with their tongue after taking the fish oil and it would go everywhere. It was hard to get mad though, because he looked so cute when he did it.

If your kids are past the baby stage, don’t despair. It’s not too late to start giving them fish oil. It just takes a little more commitment and creativity to get the job done.

If your children can swallow capsules, you won’t have any problem. As long as they don’t drink any hot liquids (like tea) right after taking their fish oil, they shouldn’t burp the taste.

If they’re not able to swallow capsules yet, you can try giving them the fish oil on a spoon and then following up very quickly with a spoon full of applesauce or mashed banana. Just be sure to have your backup food ready to go before you give them the fish oil. You can also give them a drink of water to help wash it all down.

It may not be pleasant the first few times, but if they see that you’re not going to give up, they’ll get used to it pretty quickly.

And when you feel like quitting, remind yourself of how important the omega 3 oils are to your child’s health. If you’re not eating fatty fish like salmon, tuna, sardines or anchovies at least 3 times a week, your family is not getting enough omega 3s.

Believe me! The results are worth the effort. You will see a big difference in your child’s overall health, mental and physical abilities. Don’t wait another day to start.
